In short, Trump’s New York congestion comment was classic dead cat. In the same Truth Social message, the former president mused about the impact of congestion pricing elsewhere in the world. After all, congestion pricing has been introduced in a number of cities, from Singapore to Stockholm, over the past 25-odd years. I live about four miles from the edge of the congestion zone, and it’s never once been a problem to circumvent. By most metrics, London’s congestion pricing experiment has been a resounding success.

“This is a symptom of Japan’s population decline,” said Jeffrey Hall, a lecturer at Kanda University of International Studies in Chiba. “It’s not really a problem of building too many houses” but “a problem of not having enough people,” he said. According to figures compiled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, 14% of all residential properties in Japan are vacant. “When an earthquake or a tsunami occurs, there is a possibility that vacant houses will block evacuation routes as they break down and get destroyed,” he said. In other rural areas with a high concentration of vacant houses, akiya have stalled development, the professor said.

Gig work, in particular ride-hailing for companies like Uber and Lyft, is getting more popular. AdvertisementMore and more Americans are taking up gig work for companies like Uber and Lyft — in part because some have fewer options to land high-paying jobs. Additionally, BofA found that people with ride-hailing income earned, on average, more a month than those who did delivery gig work. Vacation rental was the highest-earning gig BofA measured, but this is only accessible to people with a home to rent out. While some young people could value the supplementary income gig work can provide — particularly if they're struggling to pay the bills — others may end up disappointed.

Sidestep injury with the lateral lunge
  + stars: | 2024-04-25 | by ( Dana Santas | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
The side or lateral lunge is one of the best exercises for building lateral stability and mobility in the often neglected frontal plane. The side lunge also improves the mobility and stability of your hips, knees and ankles to avoid related strains and sprains. By strengthening the muscles involved in lateral movement with side lunges, you can accomplish these chores more efficiently while reducing your risk of muscle strain or injury. Training with side lunges can increase your lateral movement strength, enhance your mobility and boost your confidence to be more adventurous outdoors. The side or lateral lunge strengthens the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, adductors and core to help you ward off injuries.

The governor of Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on March 23 that 24 people had been killed and 152 injured in the span of less than two weeks. Gia YetikyelI live in Chicago and usually go to nearby grocery stores to snag what I need for the week. The errand can take between 20 minutes to an hour, depending on whether I'm going to a specialty grocery store or taking public transportation. The idea of having my groceries delivered to me in less time is definitely intriguing. But although Getir has Chicago, New York, and Boston listed as locations on its website FAQ and social-media pages, I was surprised to learn that the company wasn't delivering groceries in Chicago. Luckily, I was flying to New York City the following week for a quick family visit, and I was able to test Getir out there.
